We took the local half hour train ride to Howth on a Sunday. We strolled the streets and popped into the different shops and markets. We walked along the coast and enjoyed our break out of the city's…Full review by Getaway35404024056

It's possible that it will be raining, it's Ireland. Cold yes, but that depends on what you consider cold. I personally don't like the cold, but when dressed appropriately all is good! Everything like restaurants, pubs, hiking trails should be open and if the weather is sunny it's gorgeous. Make sure you hit Harbour Bar for an excellent pint and in Clontarf right next to the Royal Dublin Golf Club grab a coffee at Happy Out and hike the Bull Wall. Great views of Howth and Dublin City.
Q:
Is there a little beach here that I can take my children to or is it mainly costal walks? Thanks
A:
Just before Howth is a beautiful beach, Claremont!!

No. Just show up to the Connolly train station and purchase. The express takes about 20 minutes to Howth. This station mainly serves Ireland East. You will have to check on the times. Easy, very scenic ride. Enjoy! Stop into the Abbey Tavern if you can, on the hill. Great food and around the corner from an old Abbey the overlooks the sea.

Can this be a self guided tour or can you only see it through a tour guide? Thank you

Howth head and the walks are best done in your own. The walks are all well marked with colours each telling you how long they all take. They range from 45 mins to 3 hours so good selection. If you arrive by train turn left out of the station and walk up through the village to the end where the pier wall starts. There are some toilets here as well! From here you can decide which walk you want based on the colours on the sign. You can stop at the head and walk back down to the village or carry on see more of the coastline. There is a pub by the head called the summit. Very popular with tourists because of its location at the head but also because it is outside the bus stop too. My advice is wait until you get back to village and eat and drink in The Bloody Stream. Great old fashioned up with wonderful food. It is right next to the train station as well so very handy.
Q:
Is there anywhere near the Howth Dart station where we can check our luggage while we explore the city?
A:
No there isnt. The station is actually in the middle of a pub-"The Bloody Stream". You'd have to see it to see exactly how that works. You can get the DART from Connolly Station-they …

No there isnt. The station is actually in the middle of a pub-"The Bloody Stream". You'd have to see it to see exactly how that works. You can get the DART from Connolly Station-they will advise on this service,or point you to one that exists in the City Centre. A word of warning-do not bring luggage to Howth, between the harbour, the hill and the rugged walks, you wont get very far!
