We were transported on the Mary Queen of Scots across the Lake of Monteith to Inchmahome Priory. It was a wet, drizzly day but it was still magical. The guide was friendly and informative. We walk… Full review by Virginia M

We picked up the boat off the pier behind a wonderful inn with restaurant. I can’t guarantee timing in May, as we were there in summer. The day we caught it, the boatman simply ferried passengers to and from continuously. The wait was about 12 mins or so.
Q:
Are dogs allowed on the boat/island?
A:
I am pretty sure dogs are welcome on the island as long as they are kept on a lead. I would give them a call before heading off just to make sure though.

Hi, My sister and I are planning a visit on the 30th April (afternoon) or 2nd May. Will the ferry be available to the priory? I also wondered if a visit to Inchtalla were possible? I am in the process of writing a novel and access would be wonderful. Thank you kindly, Tracey-anne.

Hi Tracey Yes the boat runs regularly every day between 10am and 4.15pm and the trip out to the island takes about 7 minutes. We occasionally have to suspend sailings if it is too rough for a safe landing,so suggest phoning the site staff on 0783 631 3769 if the wather is particularly windy. We don’t land on Inchtalla, so would suggest making contact with the the fisheries who run the fishing boats on the lake to see if they would be ableto arrange to take you there. Their contact details are Menteith Fisheries, Quint Glen, Fishery Managers Office, Gateside Cottage, Port of Menteith, FK8 3RD 07710 433464 We hope you enjoy your visit
