Beautiful, quiet, peaceful place to enjoy birds and wildlife. We were able to see deer and a variety of birds. We appreciated the paved trail and how clean the park was!Full review by Erin B

What a treasure for bird nerds! It was so fun to see so many species at the gift shop area! Our grand-kids even stayed quiet to watch the birds come in to eat. They were quieter than some of the adul…Full review by Kaye N

There are grill places in the campgrounds and also in the picnic areas. However, due to the high rains and snows there has been a lot of undergrowth which will make for a fire hazard. There may be fire restrictions in place. Please check with the ranger service for restrictions before planning to grill there. I understand the enjoyment of an outdoor cooked meal, but safety first!

Madera canyon is a special place. Popular with hikers and especially birders. You can either visit for the day (some really nice picnic areas) to picnic or and hike, you can stay at the Santa Rita Lodge (popular with birders) or you can camp in the nearby Bonita Canyon National Forest Campground. This camping area is beautiful and very inexpensive. You can walk from this campground to the Santa Rita Lodge area where there are many bird feeders so you are sure to see many birds including hummingbirds in season. This place is one of my favorite places in the Southwest.
