Great day! We rented a jeep and drove around the park ourselves. The caves were very cool and the views from the cliffs were incredible. The road down to Conchi was pretty rough. Conchi itself was pr… Full review by Jen R

Well worth the $22 per person entry fee. Just pay attention when you go to buy your ticket, if conchi (the hidden pool) is open for swimming. It is an awesome experience. The caves are cool looking a… Full review by Mick W

We covered a lot of ground in Arikok, starting with a hike to the gold mines and ending in the caves it was amazing. The park ranger at Quadiriki Caves was so knowledgable and helpful - he took great… Full review by Gail O

Just wanted to answer my own question. We visited in December. UTVs are not allowed. You do NOT need a 4x4 or jeep to tour most of the park. If you want to go to the Natural Pool you DO need a 4x4, but we didn't do this. We had just a regular sedan and we were fine. There are some drainage ditches, but we never bottomed out - just take it slow!
Do you need a car to see the national park or can you walk around it..

You need a 4x4 but suggest an ATV Will forward you an address in the morning where you can lease one. You can go with a group but you will be a bit limited in your movements. Say if you want to leave the west entrance near the windmills to go to baby beach. And you can do it in your time without a hoard of tourists of the group around you. Don't forget to bring along lost of water! Can stress this enough.

The island is small as the other responder indicated - so if you are downtown by the boat harbors, I would estimate 30 minutes at most. You will need a 4 wheel drive Jeep/truck/ATV to really experience the park. We spent about 4 hours to all day depending on what you want to do. The drive to the Natural Pool is about 40 minutes because the roads are so rough you must go slow, but to me well worth the time spent. The southern/eastern side of the park has the caves, Dos Playas, and Boca Prins. All are pretty spectacular to see. We spent probably about 6 hours in the park.

I would give yourself around 30 min to allow for traffic around the harbor, but it took us less than that. Time in the park is up to you. We had a Jeep (a must) to go to the Natural Pool (1 hour 30 min). We drove around the park, stopping at several places, including the caves, skipping the southern path (closed when we we were there)... all totaling about 5 hours.
Could you offer more details about booking the ranger tour in the Aruba National Park - exactly what we want to do. I don't see it on the national park website and could only find private tours with high prices and too many extras. The tour itself is what we want. Thanks for your time!
