What a gem! We have 3 kids (under 9) and they’ve explored quite a few children’s museums over the years. This museum is one of the very best. Very interactive exhibits that allow for natural play … Full review by jeter928

At CMTM, we believe that families know their child best. However, we often hear from caregivers that their babies start enjoying the Museum & Theatre as soon as they start noticing the world around them. CMTM is also a warm, safe, and welcoming place for caregivers to get out of the house and connect with other parents. We have many visitors who enjoy visiting with their toddler age children. There is even a 0 - 3 year old padded play area called Lighthouse Cove, specifically designed for children who are practicing their motor skills. Some visitors with younger children prefer visiting at lower-volume times, like weekday afternoons during the school year (peak visitation is on weekends, school vacations, holidays, and days with inclement weather).

Q:
Would this museum be interesting for an 8 1/2 year old or is it more for younger children? Thanks!

I took my 7 year old and he had fun, but he tends to still enjoy "younger" activities. Most of the museum fosters imaginative play in different scenarios: firemen, camping, farm/market. There is an area that has kinetic type activities that might interest older kids.
Q:
How much time should we allot for the museum?
A:
Two hours would be perfectly adequate. The star show and touch tank are really nice programs for the kids. So, you may be there a little longer to get both of those in.
