Great quite beach with sun loungers and sun brollies for $30 for the pair of us, including WiFi. There are a few bars that sell drinks and food. Full review by Explorer45292348675

We enjoyed our stay on the beach. We stayed in the yellow house (#1). Family of four. #1 and #2 are the ones to rent as they both are beachfront. The other two are behind these. I would say that the … Full review by W V

A nice beach about 15 minutes from the cruise port. We had a couple of sunbeds and a parasol from the beach café, which was fine for drinks etc soft sand and calm waters Full review by BramleyLoiner21
Hi, I am staying on Runaway bay in April and I have recently read some things about McKinnon's pond and pollution. Most of these things were written in 2012. Have any more recent visitors experienced pollution and a smell while at Runaway Bay?

Unless there is some incredible pedestrian shortcut that I'm unaware of, I would not say that it was walk-able from the Cruise Terminal in St Johns. We took a P&O organised excursion there which involved a mini-bus there and back. The journey took a good 20 minutes each way. To cover the same distance on foot I would say would easily be an hour and a half plus. That said I did see a review which indicated that the reviewer had walked there from the Cruise Terminal which, as I indicated in my review, I really didn't understand given the distance involved unless there is a pedestrian mega shortcut that road vehicles cannot use. If there is, I have no knowledge of it. Sorry I can't be of more help but if I were you I would either take a Ship excursion if available, but having been there once, I would now have the confidence to take a taxi there and back with the usual caveats of agreeing a price in advance etc etc. Have a great trip.
