Very nice museum covering the Navy's days, explains the huge amount of fuel used to refill the warships through the war and many exhibits and models to help understand the history. And free to enter …Full review by H1465AZstephenw

Quite Good museum. Travelled by foot on nearby ferry which was cheap. Takes about 90 minutes to see all, and keep eye on ferry time. Really good information about the base and history. I've only give…Full review by bruce d

Our main museum site is closed for redevelopment until Spring 2020 but there is a temporary exhibition in the Hoy Hotel, Lyness, a short walk or drive from the ferry terminal. This tells the story of Scapa Flow in two world wars and has lots of digital information on the wartime history of Hoy plus general visitor information, so is well worth a visit.

Hi Very sorry not to have replied sooner. We only had hot drinks and a scone there. I think that they may do sandwiches but it is a very small cafe with only about four or five tables and …

Hi Very sorry not to have replied sooner. We only had hot drinks and a scone there. I think that they may do sandwiches but it is a very small cafe with only about four or five tables and not much choice. There is nowhere else to eat very close by. Hope this helps but it is well worth visiting. Enjoy your trip! Muriel
