The Palace Theatre of Varieties opened on Whit Monday 1891 and cost its owners the then colossal sum of £40,500. In the late 1970’s the Palace Theatre underwent a major refurbishment and re-opened in 1981 with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar and has since then retained its position as the premier provincial touring venue.

Brilliant Mary Poppins. FAR better than the London production of the same show. This is far better and a must see. One of the best productions in years anywhere. Recommended.Full review by 862geeb

Does anyone know how to contact the Palace Theatre Manchester. We nned to know the running time of J C Superstar to plan our journey home but cannot find this info anywhere.There is a premium rate number listed 0844. if you ring that it gives you another premium rate number which gives an answerphone message. I have emailed twice well in advance (2 weeks ago) and had no reply. I would not recommend this theatre. For the prices they charge I think they could do much better.

Stage door is to the right of the main entrance as you come out. Just ask staff and they'll show you. Quite straight forward. You won't miss it.
