Hi Compass 48: I just returned today from HK [after a Cruise]..AND HAD A HORRIBLE "BORDER EXPERIENCE"!! I had planned on travelling from HK to Guangzhou by high speed train and then fly back to Penang [which I had done at least 7 times previously... But, after buying the train and plane tickets [thinking that the Chinese gov't web site indicated that one could easily get an "in transit" visa] we we denied entry. and had to buy new tickets at a Xmas cost of US$1200!! Visa's-even to shenzhen- are essential!! I hope that this was helpful!!
