This is Oggie, from Maine. I'm in the area for about ten days to to escape the Maine winter and to explore the different hiking/parks around Las Vegas, where I am now. Based on the government website it seems like the Ash Meadows visitor center is closed from November to March, but maybe that's not true. Is it? At any rate, can I go into the Refuge and walk around and explore this time of year? Thanks for any information you might offer.

I was there January 18th 2020 and the visitor center was open.

Pahrump is the closest. You could get sub sandwiches and have a picnic. It is somewhat remote. Amragosa may have a tavern that serves food. Shashonie has a restaurant. Food …
