This is such a beautiful drive. We were there during the first week of October. Some of the leaves had changed but a lot were still green. Mid-October would be a perfect time to enjoy the foliage. Th… Full review by Gina P

Quirky twisted narrow road with fabulous tree canopy! We enjoyed it very much! Views of Lake Michigan at times. Be careful of the deer crossing! We saw several. Would highly recommend the drive! Full review by WanderBackroadsMI
Hi all, looking for advice planning a trip to Michigan (my first!). Rough outline is I'll be towing my motorcycle out there and want to run some scenic day trips, see the Great Lakes I haven't seen yet (Huron and Superior), and take in as much of the Northern Michigan peninsula as possible. My first stop will be Clarkston MI. After that I'm open. My thoughts are a couple of days around Traverse City (hit the west/south) and a couple of days further north to hit the Tunnel of trees, Mackinaw City, and eventually maybe Whitefish point. Since I'll be towing the bike, I need to consider 'round trip' excursions. ie park car and trailer and take off for day trip, but end up where I started. If I can minimize hotel hops all the better. I'd like to hear ideas from those who are familiar with the area, things to avoid or locations that make a great 'jumping off point'. Thanks in advance! Michael

Michael give me a call. I’ll try to help out as much as possible. I live in Harbor Springs north of Traverse City but on the Tunnel of Trees. 248-321-6237

Inland most of the colors have peaked. Along Lake Michigan there is still quite a few trees still changing. Probably another good week left of color. Enjoy!
