Mumbai: The airlines industry and the police all over the country are on the tenterhooks following a series of bomb threats. On Saturday alone, six threats were received at Mumbai airport taking the total number of such calls made to different airport in the country to 70.

As per sources, more than 30 flights operated by various Indian airlines received bomb threats since Saturday morning.

An Air India flight from Mumbai to London Heathrow has become the latest target for a string of hoax threats against Indian carriers. Flight AI129 was approaching the Essex coast after a nine-and-a-half flight from the Indian city. It appeared to be descending for a normal landing at Heathrow.

Air India passengers arriving in New York from Mumbai on Saturday were delayed by a hoax bomb threat, adding to a string of false alarms the carrier has received this month.

A Jaipur-bound Air India Express flight from Dubai with 189 passengers on board received a bomb threat via email, said Jaipur Airport Police SHo Sandeep Basera on Saturday. The flight landed at the Jaipur International Airport at 1:20 am after which a thorough check was done by the security forces and nothing suspicious was found,

The pattern of bomb threats to India airlines continued for a fifth day, forcing a London-bound Vistara flight from Delhi to be diverted to Frankfurt on Friday. A Vistara spokesperson said the flight landed safely at the Frankfurt airport and mandatory checks were being conducted.
