Edinburgh's New Year "Hogmanay" celebrations, where tens of thousands of revellers gather in the Scottish capital for street parties and fireworks, have been cancelled due to bad weather, organisers said on Monday.

Edinburgh’s famous New Year celebrations were canceled due to safety concerns as stormy weather hit the Scottish capital during one of the busiest times for the tourist industry.

It’s no surprise that a year filled with extreme weather won’t be going out quietly with stormy conditions on the way for parts of the United States on New Year’s Eve, including some of the most populated areas of the Northeast.
