Denmark has unveiled plans to allocate around DKr14bn (equivalent to $1.96bn) for the enhancement of its military capabilities in the Arctic and North Atlantic territories. The consensus on this allocation was reached by the political parties including the Greenlandic and Faroese Governments that support the 2024-2033 Danish Defence Agreement.

Trump has refused to rule out using military coercion to secure a deal to buy the island, which is Danish territory.

Frederiksen didn't directly mention Trump's threat in comments at a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, but said that “we are facing a more uncertain reality, a reality that calls for an even more united Europe and for more cooperation.
