Pemex has resumed operations following an Oct. 10 chemical leak that led to two fatalities at the operator’s 340,000-b/d refinery in Deer Park, Harris County, Tex.

County commissioner Adrian Garcia accused Pemex of failing to use the CAER system or otherwise notify community members about the incident.

DEER PARK, Texas - Authorities are on the scene following an incident at PEMEX Deer Park, authorities said. Details are very limited, but according to CAER, activities are being performed that may cause flaring. Officials stated the incident is currently contained within the PEMEX facility.

Officials say an operating unit at the Pemex Deer Park refinery released hydrogen sulfide on Thursday. The incident left two workers dead and 35 others injured.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against PEMEX Deer Park by the family of one of the workers killed in the hydrogen sulfide gas leak.
