John Deere says it plans to layoff nearly 300 employees at its facilities in the Quad Cities effective January 3rd. In a statement to Brownfield, the company said the latest layoffs are due to reduced demand for the products manufactured at the plants.

Deere said in a statement that "these layoffs are due to reduced demand" and that "they are not related to production moves."

In the last year, Deere has cut almost 3,000 jobs across Iowa and Illinois. It said the cuts are due to reduced demand, not moving production.
