Thursday marked one month since Donald Trump was sworn in as president. And today, some workers at the IRS were terminated. NBC News' Peter Alexander reports from the White House.

The United States Internal Revenue Service will lay off about 7,000 workers, with some 400 here in Philadelphia already given termination notices.

Some collections and audits are likely to be paused, and one-on-one personal service is set to be more limited.

The IRS purge was the latest and most extensive batch of firings of federal employees in Philadelphia, part of a nationwide downsizing of the government workforce by the Trump administration that has reportedly hit more than 10,000 workers.

President Trump and his friend Elon Musk have fired thousands of government workers since Trump took office last month.
