Meta cannot dismiss a lawsuit brought by Massachusetts, alleging that the social media company knowingly used features that could be addictive to children.

A Massachusetts judge has rejected Meta Platforms' bid to dismiss a lawsuit by the state alleging the social media company purposely deployed features on its Instagram platform to addict young users and deceived the public about the dangers its product posed to teenagers' mental health.

A Massachusetts Superior Court judge has ruled Meta must face a state lawsuit, alleging the company knowingly designed and deployed features harmful to young online users. Suffolk County Superior Court Judge Peter Krupp issued the ruling Thursday in response to Meta’s request to have the case tossed.

Facebook owner Meta said on Friday it was releasing a batch of new AI models from its research division, including a "Self-Taught Evaluator" that may offer a path toward less human involvement in the AI development process.

Meta Platforms on Friday released an array of new AI products including a “Self-Taught Evaluator” that is able to check the accuracy of other AI models. The model is therefore reportedly able to offer less human involvement in the development process of the AI models.

Taught Evaluator,' which minimizes human involvement in AI development by using AI-generated data. Other releases include updates to image-identification models and tools for faster response times in large language models.
