Officials with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) said two people have died and 10 others were injured during the severe storms on Saturday 28. According to MEMA, damage assessments are ongoing.

Two fatalities were reported in Mississippi over the weekend, according to Gov. Tate Reeves. Ten injuries were reported in the state.

The storms closed some roads in western North Carolina, a region broadly devastated by Hurricane Helene this fall. That included part of U.S. 441, also known as the Great Smoky Mountains Expressway, which closed north of Bryson City due to high winds.
