Winter weather advisories were in place in Washington and Alaska. These are issued "for any amount of freezing rain, or when 2 to 4 inches of snow (alone or in combination with sleet and freezing rain), is expected to cause a significant inconvenience, but not serious enough to warrant a warning."

A winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 2:46 a.m. valid for Thursday between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. for Northern Erie and Southern Erie as well as Crawford County.

On Thursday at 2:08 p.m. an updated winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 10 p.m. for Oswego County.
