India's star wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant is unlikely to captain Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025, according to a report by Time Of India. Rishabh Pant was appointed Delhi Capitals skipper back in 2021 and he is overall considered to be the franchise's top priority when it comes to retentions ahead of the new season.

Rishabh Pant is unlikely to lead the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Delhi Capitals management is reportedly considering other options for the captaincy role. While there has been no official word from the franchisee,

Rishabh Pant is set to step down as captain of Delhi Capitals to focus on his batting, potentially making way for Axar Patel. The franchise, which has tried multiple captains, is yet to win an IPL title.

Multiple reports suggest that Delhi Capitals will not retain and actually release Rishabh Pant ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. If the reports are true then Pant would be in the auction pool and his presence is bound to tempt bidders.

Meanwhile, leading the run for the head coach position is Hemang Badani, while  Munaf Patel is being considered for a support staff role.

Pant, who is DC's most capped player and leading run scorer in the IPL, was appointed as captain in 2021, and under his leadership, DC finished sixth in the IPL 2024 points table.
