New York’s highest court on Thursday rejected President-elect Donald Trump’s bid to postpone his sentencing in the hush money case, leaving the Supreme Court as Trump’s last chance to stop his Friday sentencing.

The Supreme Court is now set to decide whether Donald J. Trump’s sentencing on 34 felony counts should take place on Friday as planned.

The rebuff appears to leave the Supreme Court as Trump’s last remaining hope to scuttle the hearing as the clock ticks toward the sentencing, set for 9:30 a.m. on Friday. The judge overseeing Trump’s sentencing, Justice Juan Merchan, has indicated he will not sentence the president-elect to jail time and has said Trump can attend virtually.
