Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman recently revealed his latest multibillion-dollar investment: mobility technology leader Uber ( UBER -0.27%). According to a social media post by Ackman, Pershing Square Capital Management (the hedge fund he oversees) owns 30.3 million shares of the company.

Uber Technologies (UBER) shares have gained just under 9% over the past 52 weeks, underperforming the benchmark S&P 500 Index ($SPX). However, its longer-term chart has been up and to the right, with shares up 125% over the past two years.

Uber’s stock extends its surge as hedge funder Ackman says he’s amassed a 30.3-million-share stake since early January.

Uber stock hit its highest level since October after Ackman disclosed his Pershing Square hedge fund accumulated a 1.4% stake in the ride hailer.

Bill Ackman announced that his fund had opened a position in Uber. The billionaire called it one of the highest-quality businesses in the world. The company has come a long way since its earlier struggles.
