Back in March 2021, Google announced a new specialized layer for Maps that would show the air quality data for your locality. The feature is now available in the US, India, and Australia.

Google Maps product manager Can Comertoglu said Australia was the third country to get the new air quality feature, after the US and India, but there were plans to roll it out globally.

The Air Quality layer is currently available in the United States, India and parts of Australia. This data can be accessed in the Google maps app, or through Nest speakers and displays.
