Refusing to be a barbarian (and to stay at work late), he decided to simplify the problem by building a servo driven light switch plate. It’s not the prettiest — but it does the trick.

Tighten the screws evenly to prevent the switch plate from becoming skewed or crooked. Restore power to the light switch at the circuit breaker, and then test to ensure it functions correctly.
