TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Nearly six months after Hurricane Milton devastated the Tampa Bay area, the storm is now officially considered one of the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes on record.

The World Meteorological Organization retired three hurricane names: Helene, Milton, and Beryl. All three storms caused significant damage in 2024, particularly in the Caribbean and Southwest Florida.
