ANAHEIM, Calif. — Ducks goaltender John Gibson suffered an upper-body injury during the first period of Saturday night's game against the Nashville Predators and was replaced between periods.
It's the second time this season that Gibson has left a game because of injury. He was hit in the right eye by a stick blade Dec. 23 against the Vegas Golden Knights and sat out the next two games.
Gibson exited the contest in the first period after taking a stick to the face and was subsequently replaced in goal by Lukas Dostal. Gibson turned aside all 11 shots that he faced before departing.
After being displaced as the Ducks' starter in recent years, John Gibson is looking forward to showing he is still a quality NHL goaltender.
