References to cultural events like Black History Month and Pride Month have been removed in an update to Google Calendar’s default settings.

Google has quietly removed key cultural holidays, including Black History Month and LGBTQ+ Pride Month, from its calendar app. The tech giant’s online and mobile calendar has for years marked the two celebrationsd on the first days of February and June respectively.

Some Google Calendar users are angrily calling the company out after noticing that certain events like Pride month are no longer highlighted by default. Black History Month, Indigenous People Month, Jewish Heritage, Holocaust Remembrance Day, and Hispanic Heritage have also been removed, according to a Google product expert.

Google Calendar will no longer mark cultural celebrations like Black History Month, Women's History Month and Holocaust Remembrance Month. Google says it removed the holidays last year when it "standardized" its calendars to only include public holidays and national observances.
