Sam Nujoma, the freedom fighter who became Namibia's founding president after leading the country to independence from apartheid South Africa, has died.

Sam Nujoma, Namibia's founding president, has died in the country's capital, Windhoek, on Saturday at 95, the Namibian presidency said in a post on Facebook. Sam Nujoma helped Namibia gain independence in 1990 and he won the first democratic election that same year.
