In a city obsessed with professional sports, one of the most consequential draft picks in recent memory came for Pittsburgh in May. It wasn’t a new player picked, but rather, on May 22, at the National Football League spring meetings in Nashville, Tennessee, the City of Pittsburgh was tapped to host the 2026 NFL Draft.

If we were writing a letter to Santa about what to bring the Pittsburgh Steelers for Christmas, the future franchise quarterback would be near the top of the list. The Steelers future at quarterback is cloudy with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields both set to hit free agency and no one exactly sure what the Pittsburgh front office will do.
