MONETA, Va. (WFXR) — A year after juvenile striped bass stocking was cut at Smith Mountain Lake (SML), an increase is slated this year. Last year, stockings were reduced to roughly 230,000 fish.

Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia has 500 miles of shoreline. Built in the 1960s, the lake provides recreation and a home to many but its main purpose remains the same to generate electricity.
