Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore won't be back on Earth before March, but they've got candy canes and Santa hats to celebrate the holiday.

A Christmas photo of the NASA astronauts who are still stranded on the International Space Station until next year has everyone wondering the same thing. It has been a long time now for Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who have been stuck in space since June of this year.

The crew launched to the ISS in June for a week-long mission but will end up spending an unplanned nine months in space.

Because SpaceX’s next crew rotation mission to the International Space Station will use a new Dragon spacecraft that won’t be ready by a previously planned February launch date, NASA announced Tuesday that it has opted to delay the launch now until no earlier than late March.

Surrounded by floating candy canes and a makeshift snowman made out of stowage bags, the astronauts aboard the International Space Station gathered together to wish a Merry Christmas to everyone back on Earth.
