Microsoft has quietly replaced the Surface Connect port in its latest 13-inch Surface Laptop and 12-inch Surface Pro with a USB-C connector, taking away some of what made Surface devices special.

Microsoft just announced the new 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop. I have not seen either new Windows 11 machines in person, so I have no idea how they feel in the hand. I don’t know if the smaller display on the Surface Pro is a downgrade or not.

The Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are lighter and thinner, with pared-down specs, but the 2024 models are better and available for the same prices, if not less.
