Hazardous weather has caused slippery roads and sidewalks, resulting in several crashes and some school and business closures Thursday morning.

Snow, sleet and icy rain pelted parts of the tri-state area early Thursday, dusting cars anew and glazing streets as dozens of school districts across the region adjusted schedules to accommodate the weather.

Mercer County school districts have begun calling for closures and delayed openings for Thursday due to a nasty ice storm expected to hit the state starting Wednesday night. The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for all 21 counties with the exception of Jersey Shore towns.
