One of the reasons former President Donald Trump started a trade war with China was to reduce the U.S. trade deficit with the world.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he would impose additional tariffs on China if China were to "go into Taiwan," the Wall Street Journal reported.

Xinhua, the official news service, noted that instead of referring to China as the “the mainland”, which would suggest that China and Taiwan are one country, he referred to it as “China”, as if they were separate.
