MONTEREY, Mass. (WWLP) – A deer found in distress on a frozen lake in Berkshire County was rescued by first responders Tuesday morning.

Monterey firefighters and police as well as New Marlborough Police and Massachusetts Environmental Police on Tuesday rescued a deer from the ice on Lake Buel. The deer struggled to stand on the ice, and was being blown towards open water by the high winds. It had been stranded since Monday.
