Shares of India's biggest private lender by market capitalisation HDFC Bank on Monday, October 21 jumped nearly 3 per cent to hit an intraday high of Rs 1,734 per share on the NSE. The spike in its share price came after the private lender reported a growth of 5 per cent YoY in its Q2 profit to Rs 16,

Even as the lender posted steady Q2, Goldman Sachs remains positive on the stock's outlook and sees potential gains of 28 per cent.

The shares climbed to ₹1,740.55, with market valuation increasing by ₹46,433.29 crore. Standalone net profit grew to ₹16,820.97 crore.

The bank's management has previously stated its intention to grow advances at a slower pace than deposits it aims to pursue profitable growth without sacrificing asset quality and reduce its elevated credit-deposit (CD) to pre-merger levels.

The bank’s CD ratio had jumped from 86-87% earlier to 110% following the amalgamation of erstwhile parent HDFC Ltd effective July 2023. The ratio is currently at around 100%.
