Intel’s interim co-chief executive, David Zinsner, said spinning off its venture arm was a “win-win scenario as it provides the fund with access to new sources of capital to expand its franchise while allowing both companies to continue benefiting from a productive long-term strategic partnership”.

The chip maker said it will remain an investor in Intel Capital, founded in 1991 with over $5 billion in assets under management.

Intel has announced it will spin off its global venture capital arm Intel Capital into a standalone investment fund. The move is designed to bring the corporate structure of Intel Capital more in line with other venue capital firms, allowing the fund to raise money from external investors.

“Standalone operations are expected to begin in the second half of 2025, at which time Intel Capital will operate under a new name,” the Santa Clara, California-based company said. “The existing Intel Capital team will move to the new company, and business operations will continue as normal throughout the transition.”

Intel announced plans to separate its VC arm into a standalone fund, giving it more autonomy and ability to attract external capital.
