India has finally joined the elite list of countries to have successfully docked two spacecrafts in orbit. On Thursday, ISRO announced that the docking of two SPADEX satellites has been successful.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday released a video of the successful docking of satellites as part of its Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX). With this India has become the fourth country to accomplish the remarkable feat.

India is now the 4th country, after US, Russia & China, to have developed & tested space docking technology. SpaDeX findings are expected to help India achieve future space goals.

ISRO carried out a trial attempt by bringing both the Chaser and Target satellites three metres closer to each other. Afterwards, the satellites were moved apart to safer distances. The space agency is analysing the data for successfully carrying out docking soon.

ISRO successfully conducted a historic space docking experiment, making India the fourth country to achieve this feat.

ISRO released a video showing the coupling of the satellites in the space. It was followed by new ISRO Chairperson V Narayanan greeting the space agency team which made it a success.
