A roughly 100-year-old western Santa Cruz Galápagos tortoise has become a mom for the first time after reproducing with a male of the same age at Philadelphia Zoo.

An endangered giant tortoise has become the oldest first-time mom of her species after having her first babies at around 100 years old - her mate was also around a similar age. Philadelphia Zoo reported that they had hatched eggs laid by an elderly western Santa Cruz Galápagos tortoise (Chelonoidis niger porteri),
