In a battle against one of the top clubs in the NHL this season, the Flames fell 3-1 to the visiting Washington Capitals Tuesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome in a spirited affair.

A day after signing a six-year extension, Logan Thompson made 32 saves in his hometown as the Capitals bounced back from Saturday’s loss at Vancouver.

Credit to Pierre-Luc Dubois, who continues to be red-hot for Washington, scoring his 11th of the season less than two minutes into regulation. He has points in three of his last four games and 24 in his last 25, the most on the team over that span.

The Calgary Flames just finished a tough stretch of hockey, facing three highly competitive teams, concluding with a clash with the NHL’s top team, the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night at the Saddledome.

There was no love lost between Washington Capitals alternate captain Tom Wilson and Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson on Tuesday, as the two were going at it all night long on Tuesday at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Wolf sports an elite .936 save percentage and 1.98 GAA with 8.61 goals saved above average across 15 home games. The Flames have also been far stingier on home ice with 2.63 goals against per game and a 75.8 penalty-kill percentage compared to respective 3.29 and 67.1% marks on the highway.
