Alexis Lafreniere scored his first goal in 14 games when he gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the first period. Lafreniere took a drop pass from Panarin and fired it past Oettinger to end a lengthy drought at 6:56 of the first period.
The first 12 minutes of Tuesday night’s contest against the New York Rangers seemed like a typical 2024-25 road game for the Dallas Stars. Jake Oettinger couldn’t buy a save, and the Stars couldn’t buy a goal – status quo for a team that was 8-8-0 on the road this season.

With the Rangers leading 4-3 late in the third, K’Andre Miller seemed to be in control while with the puck in the defensive zone. A forechecking Sam Steel changed that. He charged at Miller, breaking up an attempted pass behind the net to seize possession. He fed Harley for the game-tying goal.
Harley seems to have found his groove offensively. He had a three point night against New York, including one goal and two assists. This comes right on the heels of his overtime winning goal in the previous game against Utah. He now has six points in his last four games.

Oettinger turned aside 21 shots in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Rangers. The Stars got caught flat-footed to begin the game, and Oettinger gave up three goals in the first 12 minutes of the first period.
