COLUMBUS -- James van Riemsdyk scored twice, and Zach Werenski extended his home point streak to 18 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets, who won their sixth straight game with a 4-1 victory against the San Jose Sharks at Nationwide Arena on Thursday.

The Columbus Blue Jackets continue their road trip as they clash with the New York Islanders. Any win or overtime loss will extend the Blue Jackets’ point streak to eight straight games. Since I last wrote,

Simon Holmstrom's short-handed goal in the second proved to be the game-winner for the Islanders, who have won two straight to improve to 2-2-0 on a season-high seven-game homestand. New York (45 points) is within seven points of an Eastern Conference wild-card spot.

The Isles scored a 3-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets at UBS Arena, closing the gap from eight points to six against a team that started the day in the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
