Former Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer has reached college football immortality. He has been elected into the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. He will be the fifth Gators head coach to be inducted into the hall of fame and will be the 14th Gator overall heading to Atlanta.

Florida officials had discussed inducting Meyer to open the 2022 season, with the Gators hosting Utah and Meyer expected to be coaching nearby with the Jacksonville Jaguars. But Meyer’s NFL tenure ended in scandal after 13 games in 2021, so the timing would have been somewhat awkward.
Meyer becomes the 14th representative of the Gators program and the fifth Florida coach to receive this honor.
