LA THUILE, Italy -- Federica Brignone all but locked up the women's overall World Cup title by winning a super-G on Friday, giving the Italian a near-insurmountable lead in the season standings.

LA THUILE – Federica Brignone closed the gap to leader Lara Gut-Behrami in the World Cup super-G standings to 45 points in a race on a shortened course won by German prodigy Emma Aicher on Thursday.

A sensational run from Brignone gave her victory in the Italian alps by just 0.01sec over her compatriot Sofia Goggia. It extended her lead in the overall standings on Lara Gut-Behrami to 382 points.
