Super Bowl LIX parade rolls today, bringing New Orleans Mardi Gras culture to the world
The thousands of football fans streaming into New Orleans this week for Super Bowl LIX are in for an extra treat. On Saturday morning at 10 a.m., a Mardi Gras-style parade, complete with 18 floats, bands, dance groups and flying beads, will roll through the heart of the city in celebration of Sunday’s big game.
The smiles, the waves, and of course, flying beads are what could be seen for blocks in Pearl River County on Saturday.
One of the largest parties in the world is kicking off as Mardi Gras season begins, and this year in New Orleans, parades are on schedule through Fat Tuesday, which falls early on March 4.
