Nathan Eovaldi continued his mastery of the Cincinnati Reds, tossing his third career shutout, and Wyatt Langford provided the only run with a solo homer as the visiting Texas Rangers prevailed 1-0 Tuesday night.

According to Baseball-Reference, it was the 28th 1-0 complete game shutout by a Ranger since the team moved to Texas in 1972. The last was by Kyle Gibson in 2020. He threw 114 pitches. In the 35 years of pitch tracking on the website, no Ranger had thrown a 1-0 Maddux.

Carson Spiers, the Reds' No. 5 starter in their rotation, had a fine outing spoiled. After allowing the Langford home run and a Joc Pederson double immediately after that, just four of the batters he faced the rest of his night reached base.
