Colts head coach Shane Steichen hit a new roadblock in the loss to the Giants, which got the head coach addressing his future.

Shane Steichen will remain the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts entering the 2025 season -- his third at the helm -- team owner and Jim Irsay announced on Sunday. Irsay also said that general manager Chris Ballard would also be retained.

With an NFC postseason berth on the line, the Colts let the Giants put 45 points on the board, the first time New York has done so since 2019, and sank to 7-9 on the year. After the dismal result, Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner said the team couldn’t stop a nosebleed and alluded to big changes coming this offseason.

The Indianapolis Colts beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 26-23 in overtime to finish the season 8-9. While that was a nice win to end the season, it was a disappointing one in Indy. They had a chance to make the playoffs but lost to the New York Giants in Week 17,

Offensively, it didn't get much better. The Colts lost the turnover battle 0-3, and quarterback Joe Flacco struggled throughout the day in place of Anthony Richardson. The veteran completed 26 of 38 passes, tossing a pair of touchdowns and interceptions to land at a 90.9 passer rating on the day.

The Indianapolis Colts will need to fix their issues over the offseason, and it could begin with the coaching staff. The Colts’ chances for a playoff appearance disappeared in Week 17 when they were defeated 45-33 by the New York Giants.
