At least 87 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike that hit several multi-story buildings overnight Saturday on Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, the enclave’s health ministry said. The number killed includes 27 bodies retrieved so far and 60 people under the rubble.

The Israeli military renewed an offensive there earlier this month, saying it was trying to eliminate a regrouped Hamas presence in the area.

Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry has said at least 87 people were killed and more than 40 injured in Saturday's Israeli air strike on the city of Beit Lahiya in the north of the Palestinian enclave. The ministry said a number of people were still under the rubble after a residential area was hit.
