Unretired NFL edge rusher Shaquil Barrett is returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After Barrett, whom the Miami Dolphins waived from the reserve/retired list Thursday, cleared waivers Friday, he agreed to sign with Buccaneers, according to multiple reports.

Barrett spent five seasons in Tampa Bay before his release last offseason. He signed a one-year contract for up to $9 million with the Dolphins in March but never played a snap for the franchise after announcing his retirement in July.

Barrett, 32, began his career with the Denver Broncos, tallying 14 sacks in four seasons with the team. He eclipsed that total with a league-leading 19.5 sacks in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In five seasons with Tampa Bay, he recorded 45 sacks.
